"Cot Inspection" Is Really A Full Unit Inspection
Don't know if you have heard but the Cot Inspection being performed at Fire stations is nothing more than a Unit inspection of see if they are carrying the state required items. The "cot inspectors" show up and separate the crew, one person gets the medic keys and goes through the drug bag while one inspects the inside with the OIC and another the outside compartments with the driver. Please warn others so that they might prepare for the inspection. If these were random inspections that would be one thing but to use the guise of Cot Inspection is a little misleading, more Fun-n-Games brought to you courtesy of the Upper Echelon of the F.D.

If your unit was up to state standards, clean, equiped with functioning equipment, etc. why Bitch. The state, your EMS Supervisor, or anyone can come in your station at anytime and do a spot inspection. The people who complain the loudest probably got gigged because unit was in poor shape or they did not know where the items on unit were (like they should).
If your unit was up to state standards, Clean, w/functioning equipment, and knew where items on your unit were, then why bitch. Your EMS Capt., BC, state inspector, or anyone can come in and do a spot check whenever they like. The person who hollers the loudest probably got gigged
If our people were checking the units and keeping them in good condition this should not be an issue. As it stands now this is far from the case on transport units....
Like anything - we have good caring providers that have nothing to worry about. We have other (you know who you are) that don't give a 'hoot about anything but their property...Watch out, more "checks" are coming!! You've warned!
I just heard a real good rumor that the new power cots they're installing have listnening/recording devices imbedded in them.....be careful!
Keep harassing the medics so they all drop the ALS certs. and there will be no more need for "Cot Inspections"!
